We keep getting asked ‘What is VEVO?’, this guide provides answer. Having a VEVO branded YouTube channel will add some verification that you or your artist is on the same level as mainstream artists. Video content lives on the Vevo YouTube channel, Apple TV, Samsung TV, other outlets.
What is VEVO?
Vevo is the standard platform for video releases in the music industry. it has Music Videos, Original series, Behind-the-scenes footage, Live performances, and interviews with artists.
Vevo is linked with YouTube, which enables videos from it’s library to be searched on YouTube, allowing users to collect views from both platforms. Unlike normal youtube video uploads, on VEVO you can earn money per video stream, and we can collect this revenue for you!
1710Media can get your music video published on your existing channel in less than 6 hours, faster than any other! For Artists without official VEVO Channels, we first need to request and get your channel approved. New Channel can be created within 2-10 Days, depending on the time of request.
Vevo’s History
Vevo, whose name combines video and evolution, wanted to change the way music videos reach fans. Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI formed the venture in 2009, with Warner Music group joining the fun in 2016. EMI eventually left the partnership to pursue its own music video delivery system.
The Vevo.com website originally was a music video-streaming platform. Along with its companion mobile app, it was successful at first with both viewers and advertisers. A partnership and profit-sharing agreement with Google meant that Vevo’s videos also streamed on YouTube.
But YouTube and Vevo jostled for power and control. In 2018, Vevo waved the white flag and conceded to YouTube’s monster reach. Going forward, it announced it would shutter its streaming service and apps and focus on cultivating and sharing original content through other channels.
Vevo is now responsible for releasing more than 450,000 videos, with more than a billion viewing hours for its videos each month. Aside from showcasing its artists, it produces original shows, including Ctrl, which follows the journeys of urban music artists, and Rounds, which looks at European artists.
Where to watch VEVO?
It is available on YouTube, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Echo Show, Pluto TV, Vewd, Comcast (Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex), VIZIO, NowTV, SkyQ, Foxxum, XITE, NetRange, Redbox, T-Mobile Play, Virgin Media, Xumo, Telstra, etc.
Why Consider VEVO Distribution For your Music Video?
Since Vevo is known for its high quality visual and acoustic content, getting your music video on Vevo will no doubt add credibility to your music brand and help you stand out from the artists who are not on.
VEVO actively promotes breaking artists through its programmes, and so can help artists reach a new audience. it also aims to sell higher value and longer ads than YouTube, meaning an artist should see more revenue in return for their video views. This means greater exposure AND greater earnings!
