'Ajimovoix Drums' Breaking Boundaries One Beat at a Time

Oguntade Adewale Damola known professionally as AJimovoix Drums, is a Nigerian Record Producer, Sound Engineer, Musician, Singer, Songwriter, instrumentalist, and Farmer. He has received widespread acclaim for his production works and distinctive rhythmic style on "Focus" especially. This and other of his works have affirmed his position at the top of the AfroPop Genre.

Ajimovoix Drums 'Focus Beat Originator' began his producing career way back in 2015, banking on his pre-existing knowledge and interests in playing musical instruments and music in general. In 2020, he made his mainstream breakthrough via the release of the widespread 'Focus Beat'. Ajimovoix has worked with Patoranking, 9ice, Small Doctor, QDot, Zlatan, Naira Marley, Abraham Soul, Dj Jimmy Jatt, CBlack, Rexxie, Sir Raw, Mayzee, Otega, and other acts.

Ajimovoix Drums was live on the Midday Oasis with Do2dtun and talked about how he created the beat that broke the internet. What motivates him, and how did he get this far?

Brought up in the core Ghetto of Ikorodu, Lagos has definitely influenced his growth and sound. Ajimovoix originally hails from Odogbolu part of Ogun State, was born to a family of Eight on the 27th of June, 1989, being the first male. He is a graduate of Music at the Lagos Music Village.

Originally starting off as a musical artist, he had challenges keeping up with studio fees and producer fees, especially when he doesn't get quality materials to work with, these made him start out with the mission of producing for himself, little did he know he'll end up producing for major artists across Africa and beyond.

Getting a major break in an industry as unstructured as Nigerian as a music producer is not an easy feat, his coming-up story is not much different from the likes of Don Jazzy, Sarz, and Spellz which he draws influences. He's also heavily influenced by Leslie Brathwaite, Quincy Jones, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and MasTaKraft.

Ajimovoix has performed at different stages across Nigeria including One Lagos Fiesta, City People Awards, and has shared stages with Olamide, D'Banj, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Timaya, and others at different times.

Ajimoix has also created viral beats including; “Play Play Beat“, “Opor Dance Beat“, “Nonsense Dance Beat“, ”Sorosoke‘, “Lagos Street Vibes” and many more. His debut EP is set for release later this year.
